Badasses show their stuff in our first home game vs. Dolly Rockit Rollers

Saturday 18th February saw the London Rockin’ Rollers B Team, affectionately known as the Badasses, take on the Dolly Rockit Rollers from Leicester in the second bout at our new home venue, Newham Leisure Centre.

After the LRR Allstars took home the Tattoo Freeze trophy last month, the Badasses were keen to follow in their footsteps and take home the win, but the Dolly Rockits were ready for us, fielding a team with a strong set of jammers which included Team England’s Rogue Runner.

The two teams were closely matched throughout the first half and DRR spent the following jams gaining on LRR’s lead from an early powerjam, grabbing points here and there with tactical jamming. A couple of powerjams later saw a lead change with DRR slightly ahead on 79-63 at half time.

The second half saw LRR fight to gain back the lead from those ladies in black. It resulted in awesome walls, great defensive jamming and tactical offensive play from both teams. But in the end it wasn’t to be, the Badasses just couldn’t quite close that gap and DDR’s jammers just kept putting those points on the board.

The last jam saw DDR’s Gob Stop’Her get a 20 point powerjam, securing the win and sealing the Badasses’ fate with a final score of 165-123.

Overall a fantastic game to watch and play in, which ended, as all games should – with sweaty rollergirl hugs and a whole lot of derby love between the two teams.
